Velociraptor Family Values by ADigitalArtist Velociraptor Family Values by ADigitalArtist
The white picket fence one dad, one mom, two offspring family of a velociraptor mongoliensis. It used to be one dad, his mistress and their chicks, and one mom with her suitors and chicks later to be predated.

Anyhoo, this was modeled and 'fuzzed' in zbrush and then manipulated in photoshop. For those of you interested, This is what it looked like in zbrush before bringing it over to photoshop.

The chicks are supposed to be molting, by the way.

Also, yes, funky anatomy problems. And I'm aware that this method makes it look too much like fur instead of long, downy feathers, which they should be.

Also, bit of trivia, this entire picture was done all digitally with no tablet.

Raptor 1: "...well, they're your children!"
Raptor 2 "Why is it they're my children when they misbehave?"

Don't worry about it. Tablets don't make people better artists. It may feel a little more natural and cut down on the time it takes to complete pictures, but there's lots of people who work exclusively with a mouse to great effect. :D

Just beautiful. It make me so sad that I'll never be able to see the animals you've rendered so realistically in real life.

I like it alot. I would have done some environment though to give the viewer a better sense of scale. As is, to me they look like the adults are only shin high.

Other than that little nit pick, its beautiful! ;)

Wow, that is amaaaazing photoreal / anatomical work.

For getting some high profile pieces "out there" in the community, have you considered looking through Wikipedia for the many prehistoric animals which they have articles for, but which are currently lamely illustrated? There're TONS of'em, and it looks to me like a great way to present your material where millions will see it.

Aw thank you, I appreciate it. :D I wouldn't mind submitting it to Wikipedia but I'm afraid there's a couple of very big inaccuracies that might preclude its use as a reference. Mostly that the feathering looks like fur instead of feathers. I'm working on making one more appropriate though. :D
